Exciting small forward Michael Walters has stated his intentions to play for Fremantle well into the future, after extending his contract with the club until the end of the 2020 season.
Originally contracted until the end of the 2018 season, the 26-year-old said it was a “pretty easy” decision to sign on for a further two years.
“I’m happy to be a one club player,” Waters said.
“That’s why I signed on.”
“The future of the club is strong, we have a brand new facility and I’m happy to be playing at home around my family and friends.”
In February, Walters was voted into Fremantle’s leadership group for the first time, and said he is looking forward to passing on his experience to a talented core of younger players.
“There are a lot of young kids coming through now that I see have a big future ahead of them,” Walters said.
“For me as a leader, I want to stay with them and help them out and make them the best footy players they can be.
“Being a leader is not going to change me as a footballer. I’m going to go out there and let my footy do the talking.
“But for me to try and help the younger boys as much as I can, I’m willing to do that.”
