Bob Murphy welcomes key forward Jye Amiss to the Club at the 2021 NAB AFL Draft.

On the back of a three goal and 21 disposal performance in Fremantle's 41-point win against St Kilda on Saturday, Nat Fyfe spoke about how Freo's players are being set up for success by the coaches and staff placed around them.

Fremantle are on the verge of a return to finals after six years on the back of their younger players making significant steps up, and Fyfe said Freo's players have been surrounded by some inspiring coaches and staff with impressive football backgrounds.

This includes Western Bulldogs legend Bob Murphy as the Head of Football Operations and Performance, as well as an elite group of assistant coaches behind Justin Longmuir in the likes of Josh Carr, Joel Corey, Matthew Boyd and Jaymie Graham.

"You asked about Bob, he brings a unique and different energy," Fyfe said on Channel 7 post-game.

"We’ve obviously got a great relationship and I feel we’re starting to work with our leadership group to connect us with the coaches. That synergy is super important.

"We also have Joel Corey - Jaymie Graham’s come across…some great humans and good teachers that are providing an environment for our young players, really skilled and high quality young players, and people to get the most out of them."

Fyfe said he was also benefitting from the guidance of High Performance Manager Phil Merriman as he looks to spend as much time as possible on the park after recovering from multiple injuries over the past 12 months.

"I always just wanted to turn up and train more than anyone else and that would prepare me better than anyone else," Fyfe siad

"It’s different now, I can’t train as much as I used to be able to, so you have to be smart the times you can get out there.

"Phil Merriman, our S&C, has been really good at giving me confidence that I only need to do a certain amount that I’ll still be able to deliver on game day, so I’m still learning that craft and working with him."

Fyfe had his biggest impact so far this season as he balanced time between the forward line and midfield and feels he's still growing into his new role.

"As a mid you’re used to seeing the game from side on, as a forward it’s all ahead of you," Fyfe said.

"It’s that craft of being able to back pedal and get enough space and stay connected with our other forwards and play my role within that.

"There’s a lot of RFI (room for improvement) clips coming my way Monday morning and but I’m getting better!"

Despite attending only 11 centre bounces, Fyfe had the second most contested possessions for Fremantle with 10.

"After half time it was nice to be thrown back in (the midfield)," Fyfe said.

"I was back in the office where I feel comfortable and get a bit of hit and start to get some confidence back in after the operation on my back, I need some contested ball confidence again."
