If you ever get the chance to meet Andrew Brayshaw, he’ll probably be reluctant to shake your hand – and not for Covid reasons!
In the latest episode of Old Bull, Young Buck, the gun midfielder opened up about living with an annoying sweat gland condition.
Brayshaw said it was at its worst when playing cards with his Freo teammates, and co-host Griffin Logue grilled Brayshaw about why he brings a towel to poker nights.
“I’m a sweaty operator at the best of times,” Brayshaw said.
“When I’m playing cards, it goes to another level.
“I get very sweaty hands and feet in particular and a towel is almost necessary to keep my sweat from ruining the game or the floorboards, wherever we’re setting up.”

On the plus side, Brayshaw said that having sweaty hands was actually advantageous to his football.
“I find it’s good for footy. The sweat on my hands helps with the leather of the ball and taking the ball. It sucks with just about everything else,” Brayshaw said.
It got so bad during exam time at school that he sought medical advice.
“(It’s bad for) shaking people’s hands and exams. I was going to get a surgery done in year 12 before I had my exam, believe it or not,” Brayshaw said.
“We decided the risk would be too great of sweat coming out somewhere else, through your forehead or armpits.”
Logue had done some further digging, hearing from Andy’s brother Hamish about a time he went to shock therapy.
“How far have you been digging? You’re very good Griffin!” Brayshaw said with a laugh.
“It was a genuine issue coming into year 12, you’ve got an English essay, you have to write a bunch of stuff and if I’m smudging my pen you won’t be able to read it.
“I went to the doctor and they gave us a few techniques to get rid of it. One of them being surgery and one was putting your hands in water where a device puts current through it and it’s supposed to stop you from sweating.
“It didn’t work.”
