Fremantle are saddened to announce that the Len Hall Tribute for Saturday night’s clash against North Melbourne has been cancelled.

The decision comes as the Perth and Peel regions enter a three-day lockdown from midnight on Saturday and, as a result, no fans will be permitted in the stands.

Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick said the Club was disappointed to not have the opportunity to honour Australia’s servicemen, servicewomen and veterans, who can no longer be in attendance.

“Given the circumstances that we now face, we’ve made what is the disappointing and difficult decision to cancel the Len Hall Tribute, as was planned for this 25th anniversary” Garlick said.

“We feel that we’re not going to be able to do our armed service men and women justice without our members and fans in attendance.

“We’ll make it the 25th year next year and give it the recognition and profile that it deserves.”

Fremantle were set to honour World War Two veteran Arthur Leggett pre-game, with the 102-year-old set to recite the ode.

“One really disappointing element to come out of it, is we’re not going to get the chance to recognise our 102-year-old World War Two veteran Arthur Leggett, who made such an impact during the week across our whole club,” Garlick said.

Garlick also advised how the club was planning to proceed with members who no longer have the opportunity to attend the game.

“We’ve already communicated to our members that we’ll be in touch with them in the coming weeks as to what that looks like,” Garlick said.

“Our full-season members in particular have paid for a membership which entitles them to 11 home games.

“We’ll work through the opportunity to either pro-rata credit, provide a refund or work with our members again who might support us again this difficult time.”
