Fremantle calls an end to Harvey’s reign
He will not continue as senior coach of the club in 2012
The decision is effective immediately.
Harvey, who has been senior coach since 2008 after taking over as caretaker coach when Chris Connolly resigned with seven rounds to play in 2007, still had one year to run on his contract.
Fremantle chief executive officer Steve Rosich said that it had been an extremely difficult decision to end Harvey’s tenure at the club, which he had joined as an assistant coach in 2006.
“It was an extremely difficult decision to make but after lengthy consideration it is a decision that we believe is in the best interests of the long-term future of the Fremantle Football Club,” Rosich said.
“We are very grateful for everything that Mark has done during his six years at the club and wish Mark all the best for the future, both personally and professionally.”
The club will hold a media conference in due course to announce Fremantle’s new coach. The timing and location of the media conference will be confirmed via media alert.
All media are advised that there will be no further comment from the club until the media conference.
