WAFL Review: Round 13
Player Development Coach Steve Malaxos reviews the performances of Fremantle players who played in the WAFL at the weekend.
Kepler Bradley (West Perth) 12 kicks, 10 handpasses, 11 marks
Kepler spent most of the game at half forward opposed to Scott Thornton and had a few stints on the ball. His work ethic throughout the match was solid despite his opportunities to influence the match further being subdued by Scott’s good defensive work.
Adam Campbell (West Perth) 4 kicks, 1 handpass, 1 mark, 3 goals
Adam had a good return in front of goal with three majors from four kicks but he was pretty well held by former Fremantle teammate Robbie Haddrill. The delivery to him during the match was not ideal and this ultimately affected his influence further.
Calib Mourish (East Fremantle) 11 kicks, 5 handpasses, 7 marks, 1 goal
Calib had a very good game at ground level and in the air. He is adding more dimensions to his game and developing areas which were requiring improvement at the start of the year.
Steven Dodd (East Fremantle) 10 kicks, 16 handpasses, 6 marks
Steven had an outstanding game for the Sharks. He flew to Melbourne with the senior side and flew back into Perth on Saturday morning so he could play for East Fremantle so to perform the way he did was highly commendable. He played at centre half back and was as reliable as you would expect him to be.
Andrew Browne (Claremont) 14 kicks, 9 handballs, 5 marks, 1 goal
Andrew was tagged throughout the match but still managed to collect 23 touches and influence the game. He had six clearances and worked hard around the ground.
Josh Head (South Fremantle) 9 kicks, 3 handpasses, 5 marks
Josh played half back and had the better of his various opponents all day. He attacked when he saw an opportunity and defended soundly.
Scott Thornton (South Fremantle) 10 kicks, 6 handpasses, 4 marks
Scott had a good battle with Kepler and they probably shared the honours on the day. He attacked from half back as he so often does and did it to good affect.
Paul Duffield (South Fremantle) 7 kicks, 10 handballs, 4 marks, 2 goals
Paul was tagged and was moved between the forward line and the centre to beat the tag. He worked hard around the ground, his skills were good and was largely effective in his decision making.
Clayton Hinkley (Swan Districts) 11 kicks, 13 handpasses, 3 marks, 1 goal
Clayton played on the ball and at half back. He collected a lot of disposals and worked hard. We will be hoping for more chasing and tackling from Clayton this weekend to compliment his work when he has possession.
Chris Smith (Swan Districts)
Chris was one of the Swans’ best in their reserves match. He played on the ball and used his long kicking to good effect.
Brock O’Brien (Peel) 8 kicks, 3 handballs, 3 marks, 1 goal
Brock was also tagged while on the wing and had a reduced influence as a result.
