Meet the 'Live the Dream' participants: Andrew Woods
Andrew Woods of Karratha
Live the Dream is a once in a lifetime opportunity for 16 young Australians to become immersed in the culture of the Fremantle Dockers Football Club and ‘live the life’ of an AFL player for five days.
Live the Dream offers participants a rare opportunity to develop skills and behaviours that can deliver long-term benefits to the individual and their local community.
The program runs from 18-22 July and thanks to Decmil Australia, the cost of the program for the participants is free, including meals, accommodation and apparel.
Eight Fremantle Dockers’ players will act as mentors for the boys during the program.
Meet Andrew Woods, one of the lucky young men who has been given the opportunity to ‘Live the Dream’.
Andrew is a 16-year-old from Karratha who attends Karratha Senior High School and plays footy for the Karratha Kats.
Andrew said Live the Dream would benefit him in a number of ways.
“Due to lack of opportunity living in the Pilbara, the program offers many positive things,” he said.
“It’s my dream to one day play for an AFL club and it would be fantastic to see what it is like at an AFL club.”
Andrew looks forward to using the skills he learns during Live the Dream to help out the local Auskickers.
