Our 2011 aligned charities, the Asthma Foundation WA and the Leukaemia Foundation, have enjoyed a successful season as Fremantle’s associate charity partners.

The Fremantle Dockers Football Club has thoroughly enjoyed working with these organisations to assist with various event opportunities and brand exposure exercises in 2011.

With season 2012 fast approaching, the Fremantle Dockers are now accepting applications from organisations seeking to be an associate charity partner next year.

The club receives numerous requests each year from organisations seeking support for worthy causes. As the club is a not-for-profit organisation the amount of support we are able to offer is limited.

We do however understand the challenges facing fundraisers and have a formal Charity Policy to accommodate the high volume of requests in a way that we believe is fair and manageable.

This policy aims to create consistency in the administration of charity requests across the organisation in a manner that supports the positive positioning of the Fremantle Dockers in the broader community without devaluing the brand or misrepresenting the club as an organisation with unlimited resources.

Organisations that are interested in applying to become an associate charity partner in 2012 will need to follow the application process. This requires the organisation to identify a signature charity event or campaign that they foresee the club can help leverage through a player ambassador.

The event or campaign must raise funds and/or awareness for a particular cause that is supported by the charity organisation.

The Fremantle Dockers understand that it is increasingly important for charities to creatively develop new ways to fundraise, market and raise awareness for the services they provide. This is why campaigns that leverage the Fremantle Dockers brand can be so effective and why we encourage you to apply to become an associate charity partner.

Here are some reasons why you should apply for Fremantle to be involved in your charity campaign:

- Help raise much needed funds for services with assistance from the profile of the Fremantle Dockers.
- Build community involvement with assistance from the profile of the Fremantle Dockers.
- Bring attention to specific issues such as health issues or social inequality with assistance from the profile of the Fremantle Dockers.
- Increase brand awareness for the charity with assistance from the profile of the Fremantle Dockers.
- Finally, the assistance of Fremantle Dockers players ensures everyone has fun!

We believe that a charity campaign that is planned, marketed and executed properly can effectively communicate an organisation's values and services, while providing a fun and interesting way to engage the wider community. We also think that involving the passion of the Fremantle Dockers with your charity will only enhance the campaign.

The successful charities will receive up to two player ambassadors for up to two appearances, a sublimated signed jumper by the 2012 squad, match day tickets to a club selected game, promotion on www.fremantlefc.com.au (including logo and description) and, where applicable, endorsement in Docker, the club’s official member magazine.

The partnership will run until Friday 26 October, 2012 and any appearances must occur during season, not during player leave period. Consideration must also be given to the players’ training and playing schedules during the AFL season as any football commitments will have first priority.
