Lyon to watch Swans–Blues from home
Ross Lyon is sending his assistants to scout our preliminary final opponent
The Fremantle senior coach told channel 7 on Tuesday night he’d send his four assistant coaches to scout Fremantle’s preliminary final opponent.
Lyon will stay with his players in Perth to have a close involvement with their training programs.
“We trust each other, but I feel it’s the best place for me to be here and have a hands on involvement,” Lyon said.
“We’ll assign two to each team and they’ll tune into what each team is doing.”
Lyon was also optimistic about Michael Johnson’s return for Fremantle’s preliminary final on Saturday 21 September.
The defender missed last Saturday’s qualifying final against Geelong with calf tightness but Lyon said he has been looking good on the track this week.
Garrick Ibbotson, who has been battling an Achilles injury since round 19, has also been making improvements.
“Michael in particular we’re expecting to be available, and Garrick is starting to make some really significant inroads,” Lyon said.
“He’s been really important to us so it’s an exciting time for those guys.”
