Fremantle sports science manager Jason Weber is confident a number of stars that missed the St Kilda game through injury will return for Saturday’s qualifying final.

Nick Suban (hamstring), Stephen Hill (hamstring) and Michael Walters (knee) did not play against the Saints.

“Nick Suban is doing really well, he had a great weekend,” Weber said.  

“He trained fully with the group this morning and looked good.”

Walters hurt his knee in the round 22 game against Port.

“It has progressed quite a way,” Weber said.

“He did some running today and we've got high confidence with him going into T2 (the next main session).”

Weber said Hill was also progressing nicely.

“He had a bit of soreness on the back of the Port game where he ran extremely hard off half back,” he said.

“He's pulled up really well and trained fully today.”

Luke McPharlin was also on track to return, but he still needed to tick a few more boxes.

“He did some work on the field today and were looking at having him in training on Thursday with a view that Ross will make a judgment in match committee for the weekend,” Weber said.

But the news wasn’t so good for Garrick Ibbotson, who has been on the sidelines since round 19.

“’Ibbo’ is still facing some challenges in the rehab process with his Achilles,” Weber said.

“We're trying to hit the KPI's on that one and at this stage he probably won’t make it.”

Clancee Pearce’s season is over after he hurt his Achilles in the early stages of the round 23 game.

“Unfortunately, on the back of a small calf strain he had, Clancee took some Achilles issues into the game on the weekend,” Weber said.

“It's a long standing problem he's had and that obviously didn't tolerate the rehab process into the game and, unfortunately, had a small tear and we won’t be seeing him again this season.”

Weber added that the nine players Freo rested against St Kilda were doing very well after a weekend training session.

“Not travelling and a little bit of de-load, it's freshened them right up,” he said.

“They were all jumping around quite excitably today.”
