Grover and family inspire 100-gamer Hill
Stephen Hill was presented with his jumper in the rooms by his mother and former teammate
The exciting midfielder’s mother, Stephanie, presented him with his match jumper, while family friend Grover, who mentored Hill when he arrived at the club in 2008, gave a glowing speech in front of the team, telling of the pride he’s taken in seeing Hill develop.
Hill said it was an inspirational moment that he’d treasure forever.
“Antoni presented me with my jumper in my first game, so to be able to have him there to help present my jumper for my 100th was great,” he said.
Hill said having his family, girlfriend and best friend there to celebrate with him was incredible.
“It meant a lot, they’ve really supported me,” he said.
“To have them in the rooms with me was great.”
The 23-year-old was one of many contributors to Fremantle’s 28-point win, collecting 27 disposals and booting two goals.
He said it was pleasing to come away with a win considering the effort West Coast brought to the contest.
“We knew they’d come to play and we knew we had to keep going until the end,” Hill said.
“We finally broke them in the last quarter.
“That’s something we base ourselves on, keep going until the final minute.
“We keep our effort up every quarter and we did that today.”
