Aaron Sandilands has spoken of the confidence he feels when he plays alongside midfield teammate David Mundy.

Mundy chalks up game 200 in Saturday’s Carlton Draught Derby, and many of them have been working with the three-time All Australian ruckman in Freo’s engine room.

The pair are among the best ruck-rover combinations in the league since Mundy’s 2010 Doig Medal winning season.

But Sandilands credited Mundy’s tireless work and class at the stoppages for giving him confidence.

“Ninety-nine per cent of the time he gets to the right spot and makes my job look easy,” the ruckman said.

“I love having him under my feet and hopefully he’s got quite a few more games left in him.”

Sandilands agreed that Mundy had been underrated in some quarters of the football world, particular over in the East.

But he said that was far from the case at Fremantle.

“He’s been an important part of the club for a long period of time now and it’s great that he’s got to the 200 milestone,” Sandilands said.

“The work that he does around the midfield is superb and his on and off field leadership has been excellent.

“He’s very highly regarded here at the football club and he’s a quality person and a quality player for the Fremantle Football Club.

“We love the fact that’s he’s stayed with us for a long period of time.”

Sandilands played his 200th game earlier in the season, also against West Coast.

He enjoyed a win and hopes Mundy will do likewise.

“It’s great when you come away with a win and the boys get around you,” he said.

“Hopefully, we can play the way that he plays every week and get the job done for him because he deserves a win on his 200th.”
