Fremantle has revealed its new jumper numbers for 2016.
New recruit Harley Bennell will carry jumper number four, worn by All Australian and 208-game veteran Paul Hasleby.
Draftee Darcy Tucker has been allocated jumper number 18, most famously worn by recently retired club life member Luke McPharlin.
Harley Balic will carry number 24, worn by inaugural player Matthew ‘Spider’ Burton.
Sam Collins will don the number 40 while Shane Yarran will carry 2015 retiree and Fremantle life member Paul Duffield's number.
Jumper number history
Rookie Matthew Uebergang will wear 42, while fellow rookie Ryan Nyhuis has been allocated 43.
Ethan Hughes, who was recently upgraded off the rookie list, will wear number 15, previously worn by Doig Medallist Ryan Crowley and inaugural player Winston Abraham.
Bennell said he briefly met Hasleby during Grand Final week.
“We had a quick chat, he said his number was available,” he said.
Bennell wore the number 11 at the Gold Coast but could not convince Tommy Sheridan to give it up.
“I messaged him a couple of times, but he wouldn’t’ buy it,” he said.
“I’m just happy I’ve got a number on a purple jumper.”
Tucker said he was proud to wear the number 18 given its history at the club with McPharlin.
“I’m very stoked to have Luke McPharlin’s number, it’s a privilege to have the number of someone of that calibre,” he said.
