Midfielder Hayden Young and forward Pat Voss have lauded the unseen efforts of teammate Jye Amiss and the work he puts in off the ball to help free up teammates and impact crucial plays.

Speaking on his Wednesday morning radio slot on 96FM, Young said Amiss was crucial in the final minutes of the weekend’s win over the Western Bulldogs.

“In the past, the last five minutes of the game have probably been a period of time we haven’t handled the best,” Young said.

“On the weekend I think we executed it almost perfectly, which is a massive step forward in our maturity.

“Jye Amiss had an unbelievable last five minutes, where he took two marks down the line, created a contest, handballed it to Murphy Reid, and we got a stoppage that resulted in the goal that put us ahead. We really wanted to celebrate that last five minutes.”

Meanwhile, Voss, who has only played nine senior AFL games alongside Amiss, said the 21-year-old’s efforts to free up his fellow teammates in the forward 50 did not go unnoticed.

“He (Amiss) works extremely hard, and we watch vision during the week all the time of Jye’s work rate and his ability to get others off the chain,” Voss said on Triple M Footy on Wednesday morning.

“Sometimes he gets matchups, and blokes put a bit of work into him, and he does really well to work through that.”

“Sometimes it’s JT (Josh Treacy) or I who get on the end of one or get a set shot and kick a goal, so we really value some of the work he (Amiss) does.”

Amiss himself has kicked six goals at a 66.7% goal accuracy (above average) and has had 13 score involvements from his four games in 2025.
