There was nobody better placed to kick the winner for Fremantle than David Mundy, according to fellow midfield star Michael Barlow.
Mundy slotted a clutch goal in the final minute against Richmond to seal a four-point win at the MCG.
These are the best wins: Mundy
Barlow said Mundy wanted to make amends after missing an after-the-siren shot against Geelong last year.
“David reckons he didn’t want to make it 0-2 after the Geelong game last year,” Barlow said.
“So for him to go back and kick a goal, you wouldn’t want it in anyone else’s hands.”
Round 10 loss lingers for Barlow
Just moments earlier, the game could have been wrapped up with a Tommy Sheridan shot at goal, but the youngster’s shot registered a behind.
“I’ll have to take Tommy through some goal kicking during the week and straighten him up a bit,” Barlow joked.
“I might get Hayden Crozier to do it actually, seeing as Hayden put through a clutch one.
“I was really confident with the ball in Tom’s hands, he’s a great kick on goal and one of our great users.
“It’s an experience for him early in his career and it’s brilliant as he will get another crack at it later on and he’ll be able to put the writing on the wall there.”
