Fremantle Senior Coach Justin Longmuir has declared that veteran midfielder Nat Fyfe will spend another week in the WAFL after playing half a game for Peel Thunder on the weekend.
Speaking at his Thursday morning media conference, Longmuir said the Club wanted to get further match minutes into Fyfe before elevating him to the senior side.
“We want to make sure we build his resilience up in his body, and he not only finds form but also gets his game time up,” Longmuir said.
“He’ll have another full game in the WAFL.”
Fyfe underwent a minor knee arthroscopy at the beginning of January and played in half of Peel’s WAFL practice match on Saturday against Perth.
Supplemental Selection Period signing Quinton Narkle has also been ruled out of making his Club debut for Fremantle against the Swans, with Longmuir stating that Narkle was still building after an interrupted pre-season.
“(Narkle’s) probably not just yet (in the mix for selection),” Longmuir said.
“He’s had a really interrupted pre-season. He probably didn’t do much of the training with the players over pre-season, with a bit of stuff early and then a hamstring injury.
“He’s building his footy, and he’s understanding our roles and our system.
“He’s got a little bit of work to do, but he’s not far away.”
Fremantle’s full extended squad for Sunday’s meeting with the Swans will be announced at 3.20pm this afternoon at fremantlefc.com.au.
