Shai Bolton headlines four potential inclusions as Fremantle name their extended squad of 26 set to take on the Sydney Swans at Optus Stadium on Sunday.
Bolton, who missed the Club’s Round 1 clash with Geelong due to a leg injury, has been named at half-forward after successfully progressing through Thursday’s main training session.
Speaking to media ahead of training, Senior Coach Justin Longmuir said Bolton would be a straight swap for Sam Switkowski, who injured his groin in the loss to the Cats.
"We'll probably have to manipulate his (Shai’s) role a little bit compared to what we were doing in pre-season and what we had planned. But we think he'll be right for four quarters,” Longmuir said.
Bolton has been named in a forward line featuring Michael Frederick and Murphy Reid.
Accompanying Bolton into the extended squad are forward Pat Voss and midfielders Neil Erasmus and Will Brodie, who have all been named on the extended bench.
Playing his 100th AFL game on Sunday, Luke Jackson faces a tough challenge against Brodie Grundy after being named in the ruck.
Bailey Banfield, Brodie, Heath Chapman, Erasmus, Josh Draper, Liam Reidy, Voss and Karl Worner have all been named on the eight-man extended bench.
The last time Fremantle and the Swans met was in Round 16 of 2024, with Fremantle prevailing as one-point winners in a thrilling contest at the SCG.
Fremantle's final team will be named at 2pm WST on Friday 21 March at fremantlefc.com.au. The tactical substitute will be confirmed one hour before bounce down on Sunday.
Sunday’s clash gets underway at 3.20pm WST and will be broadcast live on Fox Footy and Channel 7 and streamed live on Kayo and 7plus.
