Anthony Morabito is moving closer to a return from his hamstring injury after he ran impressively at Fremantle training on Wednesday.
The injury-plagued 24-year-old has been on a rehab program since February 9 after suffering the injury in a training session.
He has been running well at training recently and is listed to return to full training next week.
Before the hamstring injury he had enjoyed a trouble-free pre-season.
Teammate Tendai Mzungu said the Fremantle Dockers players had been impressed by Morabito's work ethic given all he had experienced.
"It's amazing, the resilience of him," Mzungu said.
"I know it's been mentioned before, but from the outside you wouldn't even know that he's injured.
"He just comes in, he's got a smile on his face, he gets around the boys. It's a credit to him that he's been able to keep his head up the whole time.
"I know many wouldn't in that situation. Hopefully, touch wood, he can get through the season unscathed from here forward.
"He has been really diligent with his program. He doesn't miss a beat. We just pray that he gets some good luck."
The Fremantle Dockers held a light midweek session on Wednesday at Fremantle Oval ahead of their round one clash with the Western Bulldogs on Sunday, but there were a couple of notable absentees.
HBF Injury Update: Bennell in good spirits
Brownlow medallist Nat Fyfe and All Australian defender Michael Johnson didn't train, but there is no indication that either could miss the Fremantle Dockers' season opener at Etihad Stadium.
Johnson suffered concussion in the last NAB Challenge match against Geelong on March 12.
Matthew Pavlich did some straight-line run-throughs during the early part of the session along with Morabito, Lee Spurr and Zac Dawson.
Zac Clarke ran laps at a reasonable pace following an extended warm-up away from the main group.
Harley Bennell walked a couple of laps and did some stationary handball work. The Fremantle Dockers revealed on Monday that he had suffered a calf injury in the WAFL on Saturday.
Fremantle Dockers' sports science manager Jason Weber told the club's website on Tuesday that Bennell became aware of his calf problem during the cool down post-match.
Weber said the club would need to be conservative given Bennell's history with such injury.
New draftee Harley Balic had wrist surgery last week and the club was pleased with the outcome, although no timeframe has been set for his return.
