As the Fremantle Dockers AFL Women’s side prepares for their first official match against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday, the club would like to acknowledge the support from both existing club sponsors and new partners of the inaugural NAB AFL Women’s team.
The logos of Fremantle’s existing major sponsors, Programmed and Woodside, appear on the women’s team home and clash guernseys, complementing their long-standing commitment to the men’s side. See full Article
Programmed has been a co-major sponsor of the club since 2009 and has aligned this new support with its current major sponsorship, through to the end of 2018.
Programmed managing director Chris Sutherland said Programmed was excited to be at the forefront of driving gender equity in Western Australia.
“We’re sponsoring the Fremantle women’s team to help promote a core message that women can undertake many roles, performed mainly by men, that provide greater flexibility and deliver financial independence,” Sutherland said.
“Just like women can play AFL, we want young girls to know that they too can become an electrician, IT technician or an engineer.”
Woodside has signed up as a women’s team sponsor for three years, aligning with its existing co-major sponsorship, which has been in place since 2010.
Woodside CEO Peter Coleman said the company was delighted to extend its partnership with Fremantle, which includes seven years as a major sponsor and three years as Indigenous program partner, to support the women’s team.
“Our workplace culture at Woodside is focused on embracing diversity and promoting equal opportunity, so this is a great fit for us,” Coleman said.
“As a proud West Australian company, we’re really looking forward to seeing Fremantle’s new team in action.”
On top of Fremantle’s co-major sponsors, the following organisations have thrown their support behind the women’s side.
