Growing up as an avid Freo fan, the importance of Fremantle’s next fixture isn’t lost on Cam McCarthy.
Fremantle will head into the round six Western Derby with plenty of momentum following a resounding 54-point victory against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night.
After missing the second derby of 2017 due to suspension, McCarthy is looking forward to taking on Freo’s local rival.
“Next week’s going to be a challenge, I’m sure all the Freo fans will get down and we’ll give it a real hot crack,” McCarthy said.
“My first derby, I was pretty nervous and got suspended for the second one, so this is only my second.
“I’ll put in a lot of prep this week and give it my best shot.”

“It’s going to be unreal, it’s going to be 60,000 packed at Optus Stadium,” McCarthy said.
“It will be one to remember.”
