Senior Coach Justin Longmuir addressed several talking points before the Club travels to Melbourne to take on North Melbourne for round two on Saturday 23 March.
Here's a summary of his media conference.
When asked on who would replace Brennan Cox and Oscar McDonald
“We feel like we’ve got the necessary replacements, but we will just see which way we go with the decisions we make in selection later this afternoon,” Longmuir said.
“We aren’t going to get Oscar or Coxy back next week, or the week after, so we need to have a plan for the next month and maybe the rest of the year.
“(Draper) he’s had a great preseason, Hughie (Davies) as well.
“Both of them will come into the mix and have both improved a lot since the backend of last year with another preseason under their belt.”
On whether Brandon Walker would replace Karl Worner
“(Brandon Walker) he’s done enough physically, being really mindful of his build. It was a really significant injury and we’ve been really measured in the way we’ve built his loads,” Longmuir said.
“He played a full game for Peel on the weekend so physically he’s ready we just want to make sure his footy is up to the level.
“It’s a balancing act wanting to maintain the rage in the midfield with (Hayden) Young and 'Jacko' (Luke Jackson), but we need to maintain the balance across the field.
“We might be here for a while (in selection) this afternoon."
On Fremantle’s pressure and attack from the weekend
“I’m really confident about it (the high-pressure football), we saw it in the back six games of last year that, that was a really consistent aspect,” Longmuir said.
“When we won four in a row in the middle of the year, we were really consistent in all those phases of the game and it looked very similar to the weekend.
“I’m positive of the fact that we can be more consistent.”

On his contract extension and some of the media commentary surrounding it
“What I value is the players, the footy department, the Club,” Longmuir said.
“They see me go to work every day, they see me messaging the players, they see my relationships, they see the culture we’re building here so that’s the opinion I go on.”

On the upcoming fixture against North Melbourne
“I’ve spoken about how when our midfield is right it helps our backs out, so it’s important we get that balance right,” Longmuir said.
“It’s one of their (North Melbourne) strengths and last year-round two they got a hold of us at stoppage and clearance.
“They are a good centre bounce team and stoppage team, and they challenge in the way the exit from there.
“We need to be prepared for that."
