Sam Switkowski is confident in Fremantle's squad that will line up in round one, despite the loss of ruckman Sean Darcy for the early part of the season.
Switkowski says the team has plenty of depth across the board and will be able to fill the gap left by injured ruckman Sean Darcy, who is set to be sidelined due to knee surgery.
“It’s not set in stone, but Luke (Jackson) will probably go into the ruck,” The 27-year-old said.
“List management builds a squad, so we are ready for when these things come up and we lose players. We have great depth of ruckmen and other players who can come in and fill the spot.
When asked about who will come into the line-up, Switkowski said the squad would look at several different options.
“We have some options up forward. Obviously, Josh Treacy and Jye Amiss played some good football and we’ve still got Matt Taberner and Pat Voss, who we’ve just signed as well over the later part of the pre-season. All tall forwards that can come in and play that role,”
“We can also line-up structurally going a bit smaller with Banfield, Sturt and Emmett - guys like that who can play tall and small.”
When asked about his own body, the 68-game player asserted his pre-season work had left him in good stead leading into round one.
“I’m feeling good, I’m just managing my load a little bit,” Switkowski said.
“It’s been a really strong pre-season, it’s been a lot more than I’ve done in the past and the training loads for the whole squad has been a lot more high-speed running and a lot more football.
“I’m confident I’ll be able to get through the season and be pretty durable. I’m ready to go for round one.”
