Fresh off his six-year contract extension with Freo, Nat Fyfe was an easy choice to be the first player to tour the new Perth Stadium.
During an inside look of the ground with Channel 7’s Basil Zempilas, donning a hard hat and fluro vest, the Freo captain kicked the first ball on the freshly laid grass.
“It’s a great time to play footy in WA,” Fyfe said.
“Just to know I’ll get to play here for the next six years at world class facilities, with the engagement that you’ll get with the fans, it’s going to be special.
“When this place is pumping full of fans it’s going to be the best footy venue in Australia.”
At the time of the tour 50 percent of the turf was laid with the rest to be rolled out during August.
The special stabilised turf is a combination of artificial and natural grass mirroring the playing surface used at the MCG.
