Fremantle have made one change for Sunday's round 4 AFLW clash with Essendon, with winger Philipa Seth returning for the first time in 2023.

Seth has missed the opening rounds of Season 8 due to a hand injury sustained in a pre-season practice game against West Coast, but played every game of Season 7.

She replaces Mikayla Hyde in the starting lineup, with Ariana Hetherington, Jae Flynn, Joanne Cregg, Dana East and Amy Mulholland named on the interchange.

New recruit Jae Flynn has retained her place in the team after impressing on debut in last week's round 3 win over Hawthorn.

Hyde is joined by Nikki Nield and Makaela Tuhakaraina as emergencies for the clash.

Senior coach Lisa Webb said Fremantle have to be on their toes against a star-studded Bombers’ line-up that includes midfielder Maddy Prespakis, forward Bonnie Toogood and former Freo Docker Steph Cain.

“Maddy, Bonnie and obviously we know a lot about Steph Cain as well – they’re great people and obviously really important performers for their team,” Webb said.

“We're looking forward to the challenge. We’re really keen to see how our midfielders go up against them and seeing what we can deliver at Windy Hill.

The clash is the first of two games for Fremantle in their week away in Melbourne, also taking on Richmond on Friday 29 September at Ikon Park.

Bounce down for the clash is at 3.05pm EST (1.05pm WST) and will be broadcast live into WA on 7mate, Fox Footy and can be streamed on Kayo and the AFLW Official App.
