Three Fremantle players are in the running for All Australian selection in 2023, with Caleb Serong, Luke Ryan and Luke Jackson all named in the extended squad of 44 players.
Ryan already has a 2020 All Australian jacket to his name, while it is the first time Serong and Jackson have been named in the squad.
The final team will be announced on Wednesday as a part of the AFL Awards, where the AFLPA MVP, Rising Star and Coaches’ Votes winner also will be announced.

The trio have ensured Freo are represented in all three lines.
Serong has been the dominant midfielder for disposals this year, leading all players with 675 disposals despite missing one game, averaging 30.7 per game. Midfield teammate Andrew Brayshaw missed out on squad selection despite ranking second for disposals with 671, four behind Serong.
Ryan has dominated the key defensive statistics in 2023, ranking first for rebound 50s and effective kicks, and second for marks.
His 401 effective kicks was 67 more than the second ranked players in Tom Stewart and Jack Sinclair. Only five players, including Ryan, had more than 300 effective kicks for the season.

Jackson’s effectiveness as a ruck / forward is best shown in the coaches’ votes, where after round 22 he leads all rucks and key forwards with 58 votes. The AFLCA will release the results of the final two rounds on Wednesday following the AFL Awards.
