Freo's AFLW Supplementary Draft selections: Tahleah Mulder, Emelie Fiedler, Jae Flynn, Joanne Cregg.

AFLW Senior Coach Lisa Webb believes all four of Fremantle’s selections in the AFLW Supplementary Draft have the capability to play round one should they push their claims this pre-season.

Fremantle drafted midfielder Tahleah Mulder at no.3, ruck Emelie Fiedler at no.7, wing/half back Jae Flynn at no.17 and midfielder Joanne Cregg at no.21.

All four are currently impressing at their respective WAFLW Clubs and Webb believes AFLW football could soon be on their horizons.

“We’re really happy with those pickups, they’re really going to complement our team,” Webb said.

“They’ve been showing their development and we’re really excited that we got the opportunity to add all four to our list.

“They could all play round one, that’s the exciting part about these four.

“There’s a bit to work through in what our pre-season looks like but there’s opportunities for these girls to stamp their authority.”

Webb has told all players to have faith in their abilities as they start their journey at their new Club.

“I think for them, it’s just bringing their strengths,” Webb said.

“We’ve drafted them for a reason. We’ll really continue to work on elements of their game they can develop.

“I’m really confident they’re going to come into a really great environment and make the most of their opportunities.”

Growing up as Freo fans, three of the draftees in Mulder, Fiedler and Flynn had their dreams come true, while Cregg could be forgiven for not growing up with the Purple Army as she became Fremantle’s fourth Irish player.

Mulder said she couldn’t wait to learn off her idol Hayley Miller.

“I look up to her so much, I admire her and base my game off her as well,” Mulder said.

“It’s super surreal but I’m stoked and can’t wait to get started.”

East Fremantle pairing Fiedler and Flynn were equally thrilled to be united in the purple.

“It’s crazy, I never would have thought this could happen,” Fiedler said.

“Freo’s always been my go-to for men’s and women’s football. Dad raised me to support the Freo Dockers, he’s just as excited as I am to wear the colours.”

“I’m absolutely thrilled,” Flynn added.

“Purple is quite a nice colour so I’m glad to still be wearing it as a player.

“As soon as my named got called out, it was just screams…there was lots of excitement.”

There was a similar reaction in the Cregg household, and she was soon joined by Irish teammates Aine Tighe and Amy Mulholland for the celebrations.

“The house erupted, I don’t think we even heard my full name being called, we just saw the picture flash up and we started screaming,” Cregg said.

“It’s great and so exciting (to join Freo’s Irish players). I think we understand each other a lot more on the field and it’s very exciting to have that and that good craic around the pitch.”
