Joanne Cregg's drafting to Fremantle sees the team’s Irish contingent increase to four.

Cregg is in her first season of WAFLW and has been a shining light for Subiaco.

An elite runner, Cregg finished second of all clubs at the WAFLW pre-season Yo-Yo test, registering 17.1.

Cregg is averaging 16 disposals per game, with her kicking effectiveness a highlight.

She’s averaging 4 clearances per game, playing predominantly as a midfielder, however has also shown she can hit the scoreboard when forward, kicking a couple of very impressive goals.

She has the ability to kick with penetration on both sides of body.

AFLW Senior Coach Lisa Webb said Cregg has plenty of upside as she transitions to Australian rules football.

“What I noticed about her was her toughness at the stoppage,” Web said.

“You barely see her walking and she is constantly moving at the stoppage, whether that is receiving a tap off the ruck or whether that is covering the ground to get back and help or get forward and kick a goal.

“She has got good awareness, she has got good use of her feet and has that Gaelic background to her.

“She is still learning the game but has got a lot of game awareness that I’m looking forward to working with her on.

“She is a very calm presence and a really good person, and at 29 years of age she is going to be really good for our group.”
