Being a teacher and a role model is key in the final steps of a player’s career, according to Fremantle veteran Matthew Pavlich.
Pavlich, who is set to retire at the end of the 2016 season, says there’s a level of ‘enjoyment’ in teaching the younger players.
“There’s so much knowledge to pass on,” Pavlich said.
“I feel like I’ve got a degree in football.
“I said to the guys ‘I’m only going to be here for a certain amount of time, so please absorb as much information as possible.
“I’m almost thriving to pass on that information.”
Bright future for developing forwards: Pav
Pavlich, who considered retirement in the early stages of the 2016 season, said he’s excited to help build the team towards success in 2017.
“If I can help in any way, shape or form, that’s my role really from now on,” he said.
“I want us to play the football we are capable of.”
