Fremantle will head to South Australia for round five of the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership Season, along with all other 17 clubs, for a four-day festival of footy.
The AFL confirmed on Friday that all nine matches of the round will be played in SA from Thursday 13 April to Sunday 16 April, which coincides with the school holidays.
It will be the first time that an entire round of an AFL premiership season has been played in the same location and extends the season out to 24 rounds in total with 23 games per side, meaning non-South Australian sides do not forgo a home fixture.
Fremantle members who travel for the fixture will be able to attend Fremantle's game for free. Further ticketing information will be released post the release of the fixture.
Fremantle’s exact opposition, timing and venue for the weekend will be officially announced with the release of the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership Season fixture in late November, AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said the weekend would likely involve six matches at Adelaide Oval.
This is likely to include one each on the Thursday and Friday nights before double-headers on Saturday and Sunday. He said the remaining three games will be played at suburban grounds and "potentially a regional venue".
The local SANFL competition will have a bye round to ensure maximum attendance at the AFL games.
