When you've had a career as good as Kiara Bowers, it takes a monumental effort to notch up a career-best in any stat.

It's something the superstar midfielder did twice in Fremantle's 18-point loss to Adelaide on Saturday at Unley Oval as she tried to will Fremantle across the line against the reigning premiers.

As well as having 11 clearances, Bowers racked up a career-high 29 disposals - beating her 28 against Richmond in Season 6 earlier this year and against Carlton in 2021.

She also amassed 19 tackles, her equal-highest alongside her efforts in 2019 against Geelong.

That these numbers came against the best team in the AFLW era, further illustrates her ability to dominate the game and Senior Coach Trent Cooper was full of praise for the Freo leader.

"29 touches, 19 tackles, 11 clearances...when we were out of rotations due to the injuries to Gabby O'Sullivan and Janelle Cuthbertson, we couldn’t take her off the ground for a two minute break," Cooper said.

"We’d just put her in the goal square and she just made a goal or two down there as well."

Bowers was also outstanding last week in a 30-point loss to Melbourne, earning the 10 coaches' votes with 26 disposals and 12 tackles.

Both performances came as she and her partner Adele have had to look after their young son Nate, who is recovering from some recent medical procedures.

"She was phenomenal. She’s been doing it off very little sleep the last couple of weeks with her son having a few minor medical problems," Cooper said.

"She got a good night’s sleep at the hotel last night and it paid off today."
