Fremantle are continuing to work with Griffin Logue to see if the versatile tall can reconsider his trade request to North Melbourne during this year’s Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.

Logue was swung from the backline to the forwardline in 2022, where he was used as a pressure forward and finished sixth in the Doig Medal.

Head of Player Personnel David Walls said it was likely the out of contract Logue would end up at North, but was still working to re-sign the 24-year-old.

“We haven’t given up hope yet, he has indicated he would like to go to North. I don’t think that will happen straight away (this trade period),” Walls told Trade Radio.

“We rate pressure so highly and he finished sixth in our Doig on Saturday night.

“We’re working with Griff to see where potentially he can play and how that works.

“We’re hopeful and we’re still chatting to him to see if he can change his mind and play (for Fremantle).”

Walls said Fremantle had been in talks with Gold Coast about 190cm forward Josh Corbett, who could take on Logue’s forwardline role should Logue either be traded or remain at Freo and return to the backline.

“We have (spoken to Corbett), we’d like to get Josh in if we can,” Walls said.

“That’s something we’ll do today, we’ll catch up with Craig Cameron (Gold Coast’s General Manager of Player Talent and Strategy) to see if we can get anything done there.

“He’s a hard working hit up tall forward, not overly tall but can take a contested mark and give a really good contest.

“We’re looking at him in terms of the role that Griffin Logue played when he went forward.”

Like Logue, Darcy Tucker has also requested a trade to North Melbourne and Walls said the Club would consider a trade for the midfielder, who is contracted for 2023.

“Darcy Tucker, we really respect him, he’s played over 100 games for our Club but he hasn’t been able to bed down a role with us for the past couple of years,” Walls said.

“Where he plays, we’ve got a lot of depth. He’s contracted and if we can help him find a home where he’s more likely to play and bed down a role, we’d do that for Darcy.”
