Fremantle have confirmed the return of captain Nat Fyfe as they make three changes to the team that will take on Hawthorn on Saturday at Optus Stadium.
The game will be Fyfe’s first of 2022 - missing the first half of the season with a back injury after recovering from shoulder surgery.
The two-time Brownlow Medallist is joined by a fellow All Australian in Michael Walters and forward Sam Switkowski as Freo’s includions.
The trio have all been named in the forwardline, with Fyfe and Walters in the pockets and Switkowski at half forward, while Griffin Logue has been listed to return to the backline.
They replace the omitted Darcy Tucker and Lloyd Meek, as well as Michael Frederick who is serving a one-week Club imposed suspension.
Tucker and Meek have been named as emergencies alongside Josh Treacy and Mitch Crowden, with one of those players to be confirmed as a medical sub an hour prior to the 2.10pm bouncedown.
Fyfe made his return to football at the weekend for Peel with 24 disposals, five marks and four tackles playing almost entirely in the midfield.
Senior Coach Justin Longmuir said mid-week Fyfe would play a mix of forward and midfield.
“Clearly, he played a lot of time through the midfield in the WAFL on the weekend so his role will be a mixture of the two areas,” Longmuir told 7NEWS.
“He’s played a lot of footy for us over the past couple of years. He knows the system we play to.
“He’s been open and willing to play in any role we need him. A lot of people forget he’s our captain as well, so we’re really looking forward to getting him back in the team and back to his best.”
The game pits third against 13th with the 9-3 Fremantle looking to close out a strong start to the season ahead of their round 14 bye.
