Anthony Morabito’s emotional home return was the main focus in Fox Footy’s on-ground interviews after Sunday’s game against Greater Western Sydney.

The last time Fremantle fans saw Morabito at Patersons Stadium he kicked one of the most memorable goals in club history – a multiple bounce running effort that helped bury Hawthorn in a 2010 Elimination Final.

He started Sunday’s game as the substitute - a role that didn’t exist four seasons ago.

When Morabito pulled off the green vest and entered the action, he was greeted by an incredible ovation from the Freo faithful.

He proceeded to gather 15 disposals in one-and-a-half quarters and showed glimpses of the line-breaking pace that made him a top four draft pick in 2009.

“It’s unreal,” Morabito told Fox Footy’s Cam Mooney after the game.

“It’s been a long time, but thanks to all the supporters for getting behind the boys and myself.

“It was tough, but thankfully I’ve got the support of the club and strong family values, friends and all the supporters.

“I never wanted to give up on this dream.”

His good friend and fellow Peel Thunder product Hayden Ballantyne was also rapt to see his mate get such an amazing welcome from the fans.

“It’s unbelievable,” Ballantyne said to Mooney.

“He’s worked so hard for three years. To finally get back and see him run through the middle like that, he’s a machine.

“It’ll be great when he gets back to some form.”

Senior coach Ross Lyon indicated in his post-match media conference that Morabito will be selected for this Saturday’s game against St Kilda and that he was getting closer towards starting on the field.
