Senior coach Justin Longmuir says Fremantle are heading into the RAC Derby ready to ‘right the wrongs’ of last weekend’s performance.

Fremantle suffered a disappointing 10-point loss to St. Kilda last Sunday at Optus Stadium.

Longmuir spoke to the media on Thursday morning and discussed how the loss has motivated and fired up the team.

“We’ve got a really disappointed group in the way we performed on the weekend,” Longmuir said.

“It wasn’t our footy and it wasn’t where we want to see ourselves and play that brand.

“Our players are really keen and hungry to get out there and train today, but also prove themselves on the weekend and right the wrong of what happened last weekend.

“We’ve spoken about it, but I think the motivation is there from the playing group, so they don’t need much from me.”

As Sunday’s RAC Derby approaches Longmuir said the team will be focusing more on West Coast's playing style rather than personnel due to the large number of West Coast players in the AFL’s health and safety protocols.

“It’s a new year, different game and we need to make sure we prepare like we always do,” Longmuir said.

“We haven’t gotten too deep on personnel, it’s probably a little more style of play and that’s been pretty consistent the last three or four games we’ve played.

“We’ll probably look more on that side of things rather than personnel.

“We’re unsure of what they’ll (West Coast) throw out this week but we’re pretty sure they’re going to play the same sort of way they played the first two rounds.

“There are some things we need to get right in our footy and we’ve put a fair bit of focus and effort into that as well.”
