Rounds seven and eight of the NAB AFLW fixture have been confirmed, with Fremantle to have a bye, before taking on the top of the table Adelaide at Fremantle Oval in Indigenous Round.
Fremantle’s round seven bye will come off the back of an extended interstate road trip, in which the Club played an additional match against the Western Bulldogs, with Freo the only team to have played six games so far this season.
Round eight sets up a fascinating match-up with the Crows, slated for Saturday 26 February with a 12.10pm bouncedown at Fremantle Oval.
Fremantle will wear their 2022 AFLW Indigenous Jumper against Adelaide, which was designed by past AFL player Des Headland, AFLW player Mikayla Morrison and local artist Kevin Bynder. It is a similar design to the jumper Fremantle's AFL team wore in 2021.
The two sides last met at Norwood Oval in round three last season, with Fremantle taking home a 30-point win while also keeping the Crows goalless up until three-quarter-time.
Senior coach Trent Cooper said the bye will give his side a chance to freshen up for the back half of the season.
“We were really happy with that fixture announcement, the girls have obviously been working hard for a long time and the chance to freshen up will be a real benefit,” Cooper said.
“It also means we can go 100% against Carlton this weekend, and then look forward to that break and be able to prepare strongly for our last three games.”
Ticketing information for Fremantle's round eight clash will be available in the coming weeks.
"We are pleased to be able to update the AFLW community with the revised fixture for rounds seven and eight of the 2022 NAB AFL Women’s Competition," AFL general manager competition management Laura Kane said.
"While the ongoing pandemic continues to impact and challenge our competition and our wider community, we want to thank every AFLW Club, players and the AFLPA, umpires, venues, governments, ticketing agents and all supporters for their understanding and commitment to the season.
"We look forward to a festival of football from round seven with nine games across seven days while round eight, the NAB AFLW Indigenous Round, is a truly significant round that provides further opportunity for the competition to continue to celebrate and learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players and staff in our game.
"The health and safety of the community remains the highest priority for the AFL and we will continue to work closely with respective state governments and health authorities on arrangements that both protects that and allows us to progress the NAB AFLW season."
