The boys from the Final Siren Podcast felt Freo put together an effort that was worthy of the Retro Jumper on their backs during a thrilling four-point win against Richmond.

Super fans Duck and Oz both felt Freo were done after the Tigers kicked the opening two goals of the final term – meaning Freo would need at least two unanswered majors to win the game.

The team delivered via a spectacular Lachie Schultz mark and goal and an opportune Caleb Serong snap to send the crowd into raptures.

Oz opened the podcast saying it was a performance that epitomised what Fremantle stands for.

“That game was something else,” Oz said.

“Just to see the boys get up and about, particularly in Retro Round, what Fremantle is all about as a football club is grit, determination, blue collar and hard work, and we saw all of that today.”

Duck was thrilled to see the players push through the deflating start to the final term.

“I thought we were done and I was ready to put up the white flag. But we had Caleb Serong on the show a couple of weeks ago and he said this team doesn't want to put the white flag up,” Duck said.

“What we've seen here is grit and determination. We've seen a young team with a lot of young guys have a win against the reigning premiers, essentially squashing their hopes of making finals.

“They (Richmond) kick the first two goals of that last quarter and you could feel the stadium deflate, but cometh the moment, cometh the man and Lachie Schultz, an absolute miracle mark and the team just lifts around him.

“Serong kicks another goal, we're up and about. The last two clearances, Sean Darcy to Andrew Brayshaw (to close the game).”
