From the Hawks: Sewell, Lake in line
Hawthorn could be bolstered by the return of two experienced stars for Saturday’s clash with Fremantle in Launceston
Lake, who joined the Hawks from the Western Bulldogs at the end of last season, has been in good form at VFL level after a calf injury weighed him down in the pre-season.
He had 21 possessions and took nine marks in Box Hill’s win over Essendon on the weekend.
Hawthorn head of coaching and development Chris Fagan said on Hawthornfc.com.au that Lake was firmly in the selection mix to face Freo.
“He had a really good game last week and was arguably Box Hill’s best player,” he said.
“That’s what we wanted to see, him coming into some good form. He’ll challenge for a spot this week.”
Sewell missed the round 3 win over Collingwood after he sustained a minor hamstring injury the previous week against West Coast.
Fagan said he would require a test on Thursday to prove his fitness.
“He did some good running over the weekend, so we’ll wait and see how he comes up at training on Thursday,” Fagan said.
