After Brisbane put a stop to Fremantle’s 11-game winning streak in Round 5, the flag favourites rebounded against cross-town rivals West Coast. Led by Houghton, the Dockers stormed home to a 67-point victory. The 27-year-old was prolific with her five majors taking her to equal first on the AFLW leaderboard, to go with her 15 touches and seven marks.

Houghton also became just the second player in AFLW history to kick five or more goals in a game.

Nominated for the third time this season, Davey was again best-on-ground for the Magpies with 28 touches, a game-high eight marks and a goal as Collingwood continued their unbeaten run with a 36-point victory over the Bulldogs.

Rounding out the three nominees, Ponter led the charge in Adelaide’s record-breaking win against the Suns. The 21-year-old kicked four goals (three behinds) from her disposals and took three marks as the Crows stormed home to a 70-point victory and secured their highest AFLW score and the most goals kicked by an AFLW side.

The AFL Players’ Association AFLW MVP of the Week is in its fourth year and looks to recognise the AFLW’s best performers each round. Fans will get the choice to select the MVP of the Week, after three names have been put forward by the AFLPA.
