Fremantle and West Coast’s NAB AFL Women’s season will continue with an RAC Derby clash on Sunday at Fremantle Oval, commencing at 4.15pm WST.

The game will be broadcast live through Perth and WA on 7mate and Fox Footy but will be locked out to spectators under guidance from the WA Government, which has a maximum capacity of 150-people permitted at the venue (inclusive of players, coaches, umpires, broadcast and venue staff).

The game will also be streamed live via Kayo and the official AFLW app.

Both Fremantle and West Coast spent the week in lockdown following round one and are set to resume training from Friday evening in advance of the clash.

While disappointed that the RAC Derby would be locked out to members and supporters, Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick said the club was grateful to be able to resume their AFLW campaign.

“It’s a great result that we are able to keep our AFL Women’s season on track and return to playing in an RAC Derby so soon after lockdown. We thank the WA Government and WA Police for their cooperation through this process,” Garlick said.

“Unfortunately, it means that our members and supporters won’t be there to cheer Fremantle on, but we have to keep the health and safety of the community as our number one priority.

“Last week’s return to playing at Fremantle Oval was a wonderful experience for our players, staff, members and supporters and I’m hopeful that we will all be reunited back at Fremantle Oval later this season.”

The clash will be the second in what is already a fierce rivalry between the two WA clubs, with Fremantle winning the inaugural clash by 45 points with Kiara Bowers winning the best on ground medal.
