Freo members all around the state are reaping the benefits of supporting the club in 2020, as they receive their winnings from the Forever Mega Draw’s $1 million prize pool.
As well as the top winners of the $700,000 ‘Rosewood’ a Dale Alcock display home located in Apsley Estate, a number of other Freo fans won prizes worth well in excess of $10,000.
Second prize winner Dave of Sorrento was over the moon to be awarded a new 2020 Toyota Yaris Ascent proudly supplied by Maddington Toyota and Canning Vale Toyota.
“Today is a huge day – I’m thrilled to bits, it’s absolutely super!” Dave said when he was handed the keys.
“I felt like one of my mates might have been playing a joke on me when (club president) Dale Alcock rang me. The heart started pounding. I was just gobsmacked, it’s unbelievable.
“I’ve been a member for 21 years – and the wife signed up a couple of years after me. We’ve had a couple other family members who have come and gone but it’s just the two of us at the moment – it’s been a long time.
“To Canning Vale and Maddington Toyota, it’s just very generous of them in a very, very tough year. We are thrilled to bits and just looking forward to the next footy season.”
Alan of Erskine was just as delighted to win a Willie Creek Necklace Strand of South Sea Cultured Pearls, making him an instant hero to his wife, Shelly.
“I was really surprised on the day and when I told Shelly she didn’t believe it either,” Alan said.
“It’s a great prize and I really take my hat off to Willie Creek Pearls for donating.
“I’ve never won anything at all so to win this is just amazing. I’m quite surprised at how good it is, the necklace is absolutely beautiful.
“We’ve been members since January 2000 and we followed the club from day one and we go to as many games as we can.”
Nick of Beaconsfield expects a bumper Christmas with a year’s supply of groceries from The Good Grocer, who have four stores around Perth in Applecross, Leederville, Shenton Park and South Perth.
“The prize is bloody incredible. This is right up there, it’s certainly going to be a nice Christmas lunch this year, that’s for sure,” Nick said.
“The team at the office have told me that I need to keep the lolly jar full for the next 12 months and there’s going to be a lot of celebrating with mates, too.
“I’ve been a fan for 26 years now. I take my Mum to the footy. She sorted it out when I was younger and now I take her, so we’ve switched it around.”
The Good Grocer owner Greg Brindle said he delighted to be able to help the club.
“I’m a long-standing Freo fan and we wanted to help in any way to help Fremantle maintain their membership and keep that membership drive happening during the Covid period,” Brindle said.
“We have a number of stores within the Dockers territory and clearly we like being active in the community, just like we are with Fremantle so we’re excited to have that partnership.”
