Adam Cerra has earned the maximum 10 votes for the second time in his short AFL career following Fremantle’s 14-point win against Melbourne on Monday at Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns.
The midfielder was outstanding with a career-high equalling 30 disposals as he saw more inside midfield minutes after playing primarily as a winger this season.
He topped off his night with a spectacular check-side snap from the pocket that will go down as one of the best goals of 2020.
Senior coaches Justin Longmuir and Simon Goodwin all agreed on the top three players in the clash, awarding Michael Walters eight votes and David Mundy six votes.
Walters took his opportunities on a night when his teammates struggled in front of goals with three majors.
Mundy was once again a strong and steady hand in Fremantle’s midfield in tough conditions, with 20 disposals, 16 contested possessions, seven tackles, seven clearances and four inside 50s.
Blake Acres (23 disposals) and Nat Fyfe (21) were both awarded two votes each while Nathan Wilson (16 disposals, five marks) was given one vote for his efforts at half back.
Jack Viney was the only Melbourne player to earn votes on the night with one vote.
