Form-line

Freo: Won 9 Lost 7 (9th) - W L W W L W W L L L W L L W W W
Port: Won 5 Lost 11 (14th) - W L L L L L L W W W L L L L L W

The selection table

Freo - A number of players will put their hands up for selection this week. Gun youngster Nat Fyfe will make his eagerly awaited return, while forward Chris Mayne comes back after one week out. Greg Broughton (back) must pass a fitness test. Lachie Neale, Nick Lower and Zac Dawson are also possibilities to resume in the senior side over the coming weeks. David Mundy should be fine after being subbed out last round.

WHO COMES IN? WHO COMES OUT?

Port - Port youngster Jasper Pittard won’t play after suffering a fractured rib and partially collapsed lung in a collision last week. Star midfielder Hamish Hartlett could be a chance to come back into the side, while important Power full-forward Jay Schulz is still on the sidelines.

Who’s hot

Freo - Lee Spurr: Spurr has grasped the opportunity he got when Antoni Grover was a withdrawal after the warm-up last week. He had 19 disposals and 11 marks against Melbourne and he continued his solid form off half-back against GWS with 17 touches and seven marks.

Port - Travis Boak: The most talked about Port midfielder of recent weeks showed why he’s such a valued commodity with 28 possessions and a goal in a best-on-ground effort for the Power against Melbourne on Saturday night.

X-Factor

Freo - Kepler Bradley: If Kepler had kicked straight against GWS on Sunday we’d be talking about his dominant performance, rather than his wasted opportunities. One goal and four behinds was not just rewards for the forward’s efforts in gathering 20 possessions and five marks. If ‘Kep’ can keep finding the ball and convert, he’ll take a big stride towards solidifying his place in the team.

ROTATING RUCKS

Port -Paul Stewart: The tall Power forward has been excellent in the absence of Port’s best goal-scorer Jay Schulz. Stewart kicked five goals in a match-winning effort on Saturday night. That followed four against Adelaide a few weeks ago.

Key match-ups

Ryan Crowley v Travis Boak - Boak’s efforts against Melbourne won’t go unnoticed by Freo. He can expect the tight tag of Ryan Crowley this week. Boak will also need to be mindful of the offensive impact Crowley can have, even when tagging. ‘Crowls’ has kicked 11 goals this year to add insult to injury for many of his scalps.

Luke McPharlin v Paul Stewart - McPharlin and the Freo defence will be in no mood to allow any Power forward to kick five goals this week like Paul Stewart did against Melbourne on Saturday. Freo’s backline is disappointed at conceding four goals to the young Giants in the third quarter last Sunday, so expect them to be at their stingy best.

Jon Griffin v Matthew Lobbe -An in-form Griffin has a real opportunity to get Freo started from the stoppages against his less experienced opponent on Sunday.

Toyota AFL Dream Team

Freo - Paul Duffield: While hot and cold this season, Duffield has averaged 111 over his past four games against Port, including 114 against them in round 7 earlier this season.

FORM WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH SAYS DUFFIELD

Port: Matthew Broadbent: Broadbent is having a breakout season, averaging 82 points per game. He’s scored an average of 88 in his past three against Fremantle, but only managed 77 when the teams met in round 7.
