Tina and Richard Greene have been Freo members for the past 12 years. Since relocating to Australia from the United Kingdom, the proud Freo fans have never taken a backward step.

“When I came to Australia in 1994 we lived in Fremantle, so supporting Freo was an obvious choice. I’ve never supported another team,” Richard said.

“We never supported the Eagles, so as soon as Freo came about we jumped on board.”

Tina and Richard who travel up from Mandurah for every game, said the only thing that would stop them from making it to a home game was if they were away.

“The atmosphere is great, it’s just not the same watching it on TV, you see a lot more at the game than what you do when watch it on TV,” said Richard.

“Every season there will be a memorable moment. You will always be guaranteed to have one moment that you will never forget.

“The whole crowd becomes one. It’s ridiculous to think that a footy game can create that emotion, but it does. There’s nothing like it.”

Richard can recall the first game he went to when Fremantle played Richmond.

“I was stunned at the size of the field and how big it was,” he said.

“Also the fact that the game went for two hours, I used to follow rugby which was just 80.”

The couple try and make it to at least one away game each season.

“We’ve been to lots of away games, it’s really great seeing an away win,” Tina said.

“We’ve seen the team play in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney. We even made it up to Darwin to watch them play one year. We’re hoping to head to the Gold Coast to see the boys take on the Suns next year.”

Tina’s advice to fans thinking of becoming members this year is pretty straight forward.

“When the team gets to the grand final and experiences success you will just want to be a part of it,” she says.

“You don’t want to miss out on that.”
