Danielle Steward is $25,000 richer, walking away with first prize in the 2017 Fremantle Dockers Foundation raffle after purchasing a single ticket in the draw.
“I run a kids yoga class as a part of the gym I own and at the end of the yoga I give the kids an apple.
“So I just ran out of work and ran downstairs to get to 30 apples for my little yogies.
“The Freo representatives were downstairs selling raffle tickets and I happened to buy the winning one.”
Danielle only had enough change for one ticket but felt as though she should buy it on behalf of her loyal Fremantle supporting daughter, Georgie.
“She was in my thoughts because I knew it was going to help the Dockers going around to schools," Danielle said.
“My daughter is at that age now where she actually wants to play AFL.
“It was that thought process that made me think I better buy one in her honour. “
Georgie now sees herself responsible for the family’s win.
“It’s her birthday coming up in a couple of weeks, so her birthday list is slightly longer since she found out we had won,” Danielle said.
The Steward family plan on using the money to finish house renovations.
“I’ll finally get to finish my house,” Danielle said.
“It’s fair to say we’re converted to Fremantle supporters thanks to Georgie.”
