WAFL Watch Round 5 – Defenders
Find out how Freo’s defenders fared in the WAFL last weekend
Alex Silvagni - (C) 9 disposals (6 kicks, 3 handballs) 6 marks, 3 tackles
Alex controlled his opponents and provided great support by making the out number and organising others. Read the opposition kicker’s cues well and came off his opponent when needed. His attack on the ball and the opposition was first rate. Injured his ankle in the third quarter and played no further part in the game.
Peter Faulks – (PT) 23 disposals (16 kicks, 7 handballs) 9 marks
Played a mixture of defensively deep and high on Kody Manning and Nick Rodda and also Anthony Tsalikis. He was rarely beaten in a contest by his direct opponent, even though Peel were under siege with West Perth’s high inside-50 entries. Got his hands on plenty of the ball and kept demanding it, he just needs to improve his use.
Alex Forster - (PT reserves) 18 disposals (111 kicks, 7 handballs) 5 marks, 3 inside 50
Played half-back for Peel Reserves. Covered the ground well and played with some improved effort and grunt. His ball use was sound and he constantly used the first option. He pushed over at air and ground level tosupport his teammates.

Alex Howson – (EF reserves) 14 disposals (9 kicks, 5 handballs) 8 marks
Alex played running back and key back and had 14 disposals, which were mainly acquired by spreading as a lateral outlet coming out of defence. He took eight marks and dropped off well on a couple of occasions but we’re just looking for Alex to show that he can play closer to his defender with a physical brand of football.
