Hayden Ballantyne has described the Freo fans that travelled to Geelong last Saturday as ‘unreal.’

The support started to gain momentum on Thursday afternoon when more than 50 fans joined the players on their charter flight directly to Geelong from Perth.

With close to 3,000 fan passing through the gates at Simonds Stadium, the fiery forward thought the Freo crowd was unbelievable.

“When we ran out of the race, that’s all we could hear,” Ballantyne said.

“Just Freo fans going berserk, they were going nuts up one end of the ground.

“It was brilliant to hear all their support.”

And the support didn’t stop there.

As the team touched down at Perth Airport at 11.00pm on Saturday night they were greeted by more than 300 fans at the domestic terminal.

Captain Matthew Pavlich took to social media to show his gratitude.

Having never played in a preliminary final Ballantyne said he was looking forward to playing in front of a home crowd.

“I'm very excited, we've got a good record at Patersons,” he said.

“It's our home ground and we'll have 40,000 screaming fans there for us.”
