Ross Lyon told Seven News on Tuesday night about Freo’s instruction to move the ball more swiftly from defence.

“We’re certainly trying to do that," he said.

"I think all teams try and take their opportunities when they can and not get held up.

“We did it quite well on Friday night, but there’s plenty of challenges that lay ahead.”

Lyon gave ruckman Aaron Sandilands the five votes for his efforts on Friday night.

The three-time All Australian reputation is growing with each dominating performance.

“He’s in very good form, Aaron,” Lyon said

“He gave us first use, great follow up, big contested marks around the ground and played really big, leading from the front.

"He had a great summer and Aaron’s season is full of expectation.”
