When Orlyn Nichaloff was packing his bags to come to Perth from Derby to play in a curtain raiser at Domain Stadium, he was so excited he forgot his footy boots.
Enter Fremantle forward Michael Walters, who offered a new pair of boots to the 17-year-old.
Orlyn was in Perth this week as part of the Clontarf Academy and trained at Fremantle Oval on Friday.
“I packed everything for the trip, thinking I had my boots but when I got to our first training session I realised I didn’t pack my boots,” he said.
“Luckily the club found some boots that fitted me, but it wasn’t until I put them on I found out they were Walters’.”
A Fremantle club official realised Orlyn was the same sized boot as Walters and called him to see whether he could borrow a pair of boots, he was happy to oblige.
Room to improve: Walters
Orlyn played well in the Woodside Cup at Domain Stadium before Fremantle played Essendon on Saturday night.
“It was amazing to play on the ground before Freo,” Orlyn said.
“It was cool that Walters gave me the boots.”
In a coincidence, Orlyn wore the number 10 in the game, the same as his idol.
Orlyn was part of the Live the Dream program presented by Decmil at Fremantle last year.
