Matthew Pavlich's Top 10 - Number 6
Ahead of his 300th game, fremantlefc.com.au counts down our legendary captain's greatest moments
He didn’t take over the contest like he had done so many times over his career, but he didn’t need to.
Matthew Pavlich’s teammates ensured nothing was going to stand in the way of their captain’s record-breaking day in round 3, 2011.
Pavlich chalked up game 239, breaking Shane Parker’s Freo games record of 238.
Fittingly, it took place in South Australia, where Pavlich had grown up, and against the Adelaide Crows, the team he’d supported as a child.
Pavlich was still instrumental in the win, collecting 25 disposals as Fremantle ran out 25-point victors.
"Getting chaired off there and seeing Mum and Dad and a few other family members and friends in the stands was a pretty special moment, given the 11 or 12 years I've spentover in Perth,” Pavlich told ABC’s Grandstand after the match.
"There's not a whole heap of time I get to spend during the football season back here but to have them up there and win in front of them was really special for me."
