Fremantle’s Tunisha Kikoak has been named in the AFLPA’s 22under22 Squad following a break-out first AFLW season for the young forward.
Kikoak is now eligible to be named in the AFLPA’s final 22under22 team, which is decided and voted for by fans.
After missing out on selection in last year’s draft, the Club signed Kikoak as a replacement player for Kiara Bowers in May, and the young gun has shown she is one to watch.
The 19-year-old booted six goals across nine games in her first AFLW season, and sits equal-second alongside Ebony Antonio and Gabby O’Sullivan for Fremantle’s leading goalkicker in 2024.
Kikoak finished the home and away season with a 67 per cent shot at goal accuracy percentage, and kicked at least one major across four consecutive games between weeks 3 and 6.
Not only identified as a target in the forward line, Kikoak debuted in the backline and has stepped into the ruck when needed, with 20 hitouts for the season.
For a player to be eligible for the squad of 44, they are required to play a minimum of five games across the home and away season.
The squad of 44 is chosen by an internal selection panel at the AFL Players’ Association, with the power then handed to the fans, who have the opportunity to decide the final 22 by voting on the 22Under22 platform.
Voting is now open from Wednesday 6 November 12pm WST, and will close on Wednesday 13 November 8.59pm WST.
The final team of 22 will be announced on Wednesday 20 November via the AFL Players’ Association’s social media channels.
